Diorama /shadow box card

Hi all,
I'm here today to share my first DT creation for Papermill Direct.

I decided to do something a little different and make a shadow box/diorama card. These are so simple to make but so effective. I know we are all aware of postage cost and that's the great thing about these cards. They offer dimension but can be posted flat.

For my card I used:
2 pieces of  ivory linen card 14.5 cm x 21 cm
1 piece of  black card 14.5cm x 13 cm
Scoreboard or ruler and scoring tool
Die or something to draw around to cut an aperture
Stamps or digital images
Adhesive

The first step is to stamp or print your image /verse onto the centre of 1 of the pieces of Ivory Linen card
I also made a digital frame and printed the sentiment I will be using for the front of my card onto the second piece where the aperture will be cut in order to save card.

Now cut your aperture in the centre of the second piece of ivory Linen. Here I am using a nestability circle die but if you have a steady hand you could draw around a cup etc and cut by hand.
Then do the same with the black piece of card.

Now using either a score board or ruler and embossing tool score both pieces of ivory card at 2cm and 4cm as shown below

Crease the side tabs like this

Adhere the black piece of card into the centre back and adhere the side tabs so you end up with this.

Decorate as you wish!

There are so many possibilities with these cards. You could add acetate to the centre aperture  which you could make in any shape and add a spray of glitter or add patterned papers or decoupage your image to give a real 3d look.

The image and sentiment used for my project are available from The Digi Stamp Boutique HERE

What do you do

....when your not papercrafting?????

I started dabbling in a bit of crochet a year or so ago and I am sooooo falling in love with it. Wish I had someone who could show me IRL though. My confidence in my crochet skills is sadly lacking but I did try a baby blanket for a friend of my mums grandchild who is due in a few weeks.

I've never been one for just sitting so it's great to be able to sit in front of the telly but still be doing something. More sociable than being stuck upstairs in the craftroom too. I've recently joined a crochet group on FB and wow some of the creations blow your mind...maybe one day when I grow up..........

Do you do any other crafts?

A nice long soak...

...Oh how I could do with one of those...

On to my card which I have made with the lovely Alyssa relaxing Digi from

I made a little milk carton using my scoreboard and my tutorial HERE
I coloured the image with Prisma colour pencils
Spy the "kraft " card? it's a new line in for papermill direct called buff. It is a little lighter than some buff card and it hasn't got lots of "bits" showing IYKWIM but as you can see from the pic it's still a nice "kraft" colour. you can always colour the edges up with a bit of distress ink if you want it a bit darker.,

The box looks a completely different colour in the picture but really it's the same. If I ever figure out how to work this camera it will be a miracle. Hubby just points and shoots it and takes a masterpiece. Me I take 24 photos and mange to get one that's just passable lol

Friday

Mums day

Well with mother's day fast approaching I thought I better get my cards made. As you can see from the lack of posts on my blog time is a bit limited for me at the moment so I wanted to keep them clean and simple. Last year hubbies auntie who sews for a living was offered huge reels of ribbon that they were discontinuing for a few pence each. So she got me a few rolls :) I very rarely use the very thin ribbon so I had a go a crocheted flowers with it one night. I made about 20 and hadn't used them till now. Hubbies auntie also got me some lovely offcuts of lace which I have used on the other cards :)

They are all on PAPERMILL DIRECT Ivory linen card
the font is atlast greeting

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great weekend
